We need to demand action on ICE activity in Esco
Time is running out. We need to demand action from the Esco City Council to protect residents from ICE.
Attend the Council Workshop on Wednesday, 1 PM at the Police and Fire Headquarters, 1163 Centre City Parkway. Meeting agenda File a written comment here.
Please email your support for the action outlined in this Escondido Neighbors for Solutions letter to the Escondido Mayor and City Council calling on the Council to take as soon as possible.
Here is just a partial list of actions we are requesting to address this crisis
1. Now that SB 627 ‘No Secret Police’ Act is state law, establish city masking policy compliant with Section 2 of SB 627.
2. Pass a resolution setting desired rules for ICE in our city.
3. Work with the Escondido School Districts to establish a Safe Passage to Schools program.
4. Submit FOIA requests to document and reveal ICE operations in the city and share results with the public.
5. Pass a resolution explicitly prohibiting EPD from sharing license plate reader data with ICE.
6. Establish a legal defense fund for residents impacted by detentions.

We all know that as the new federal budget monies are released on October 1st, there will be an escalation in ICE activity, legal and illegal, that will terrorize our community and especially our children. There is no time to wait on making commitments to support and protect our at-risk community members. Please sign the Escondido Neighbors for Solutions letter post haste.
